9/9 - The Rugby World Cup and the Fantrail Kicks off.

Before the images I just need to say that there was an emense amount of work that went into all of this and everyone did extremely well. Tao, Jeff and Tina have set the bar high for the rest of us.

Path.

Set out on Thursday evening as we decided it would take too long to get out on Friday due to its cumbersomeness. (this has been remedied by cutting the sections in half so they are more manageable.)

The Path - laid out on Thursday night.

A few pieces that moved during the event. Including the cable ramp.

I have more photos to upload but my internet won't let me upload.

The next post will contain crowd reactions and night shots among others.

This week we are working towards Sam, Kelsey, Rasha and Eve's group event which is happening on Saturday. Fluid Divergence and the flow are also working towards their events for the following weekend.

Flui[d]ivergence - Dancers

I'm unsure if this has been mentioned but our entire design group along with the entire All_black group are collaborating with dancer students for our events.

We've all been trying really hard to design in a way in which allows for the dancers to interact with our designs rather than merely dance around them. (Harder than it sounds.)

It is probably worthwhile to mention that Flui[d]ivergence consists of Shieun Lee, Melody Lai, Tim Stevenson and myself, Tegan Barry)and we are collaborating with Sam and Ange from the dance school.

The thing with us and our dancers is that there was a strong correlation in ideas, even from the very start, so that is prior to collaborating. The dancers would like to dance in a way that flows gracefully, yet dramatically, which is what we are trying to achieve architecturally. From their side there is no pedestrian movements which are quite popular with other groups and from our side there are no harsh angles and an emphasis on delicacy.

These photos were taken by Shieun quite early on in the semester prior to the first jury presentation. What they show is the type of movements the dancers intend to use.

In current discussions the dancers are hoping to achieve a very natural and etheral look for the events, with suggestions of whites and muddied natural colours and flowing dresses - quite different from what they are wearing above. This all ties in with our mutual exploration (theoretically) of what the site would have been like originally especially in relation to topography and a watercourse that ran through our site. It also ties in with our desire to use fabric for our event.

I don't have many of the flui[d]ivergence photos but I'll update what I do have and/or what I can get off people soon.

Thanks to Shieun Lee for the photographs and to Sam and Ange for dancing.
